How Xila ACADEMY Started

My son was attending school in person every day at a small private school where, over time, it became clear that education was not treated as a priority. The classroom environment lacked structure and focus. Instruction time was inconsistent, communication was minimal, and there was a general absence of academic order. Conflicts between students were frequent, and meaningful learning was not taking place.
What concerned me most was the academic inconsistency. In a previous school, my child had earned straight A’s. Yet in this environment, he was suddenly receiving failing grades that did not reflect his true abilities or prior performance. As a parent, I knew something was deeply wrong.
I attempted to address these concerns respectfully. I spoke with teachers and administrators, asking for clarity, support, and concrete steps to help my child learn. Communication was limited and often superficial. Despite repeated efforts, there was no meaningful follow-up or improvement.
Academically, the situation became even more alarming. For a child in third grade, the amount of actual instructional work was minimal. There was little evidence of structured learning, assessment, or progression. This led me to seek professional guidance, and I took my child to a psychologist to better understand what was happening.
Through this process, it became clear that my child was not internalizing academic content due to a highly disruptive environment marked by constant verbal conflict and lack of classroom control. The atmosphere was not conducive to learning, emotional safety, or intellectual growth.
Shortly before the end of the school year, instead of offering solutions, the school informed us that our family would no longer be welcome, labeling us as “difficult” simply because we asked questions and advocated for our child’s education. With only two weeks left in the academic year, we were forced to withdraw him.
What followed was one of the most exhausting periods of my life. I spent nights without sleep for weeks, navigating enrollment requirements and ensuring that my child could continue his education without losing the academic year. Despite the obstacles, we succeeded. He completed the entire academic segment successfully and earned A’s — the same level of performance he had demonstrated before entering that school.
From that moment on, everything changed.
Today, my son is curious, knowledgeable, and deeply thoughtful. He reads extensively, has an advanced understanding of science, life, and the world around him, and demonstrates a maturity and wisdom beyond his years. Most importantly, he has regained his confidence and love for learning. To this day, he thanks me for the decision I made.
I bring over 30 years of professional experience in education, language services, and academic rigor. I am the founder of First Step Translations Corp., where I serve as a lead certified translator and interpreter, working closely with law firms, attorneys, courts, and private clients on complex legal and official matters. I have also served as a university department chair and have trained students from early education through adulthood. I am currently in my third year of law studies.
My philosophy is simple and unwavering:
what I demand for my own children, I demand for every child entrusted to my care.
That belief is the foundation of everything we do.
